Oitavos Dunes Golf

Based in Cascais, Lisbon

Oitavos Dunes, situated within the Sintra-Cascais natural park, provides a true links experience. The setting is dramatic with magnificent views of the Sintra mountains, the Atlantic Ocean and Cabo da Roca.

Very little of the environment was disturbed as the Golf Course was routed in harmony with a stunning area already sculptured by nature. Arthur Hills maintained and preserved the natural characteristics of the land in the clever design and the Golf Course’s name reflects its natural sand dunes.

Oitavos Dunes Golf Course traverses three distinct landscape forms: forested area (with the most beautiful umbrella pine trees in the world), dunes land, and the more open coastal transition areas. The Oitavos Dunes Golf Course has been carefully routed to take advantage of all three zones, featuring all of their distinct characteristics. The routing is a continuous loop of holes, nine out and nine in, similar to links land courses in Scotland.

It is a memorable Course in an area of great natural beauty, that tests every aspect of your game. There are trees, bunkers and dunes to avoid. There is the wind which is so often present - The prevailing wind is from the North, but can swing 180 degrees to blow off the sea. A fine layout amid spectacular scenery. Rolling fairway and large greens that often have an usual roll to them thanks to the grain line.

The Clubhouse has an enviable location in a unique spot surrounded by umbrella pine trees and provides a relaxed setting with stunning views of the fairways and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

The Oitavos Dunes Golf course opened in 2001 and was designed by Arthur Hills.
