Isla Canela Golf
Isla Canela is a challenging course, with undulating slopes formed by the natural dunes. The design of the holes combines precision, strength and dexterity. With water featuring on 10 holes and orange, olive and eucalyptus trees situated at strategic points, Isla Canela is a worthy test for all handicap levels.
For the most part Isla Canela is the sort of course where the driver is best left in the bag; it is very, very tight, especially at the start. The problem is that quite often you need the length a drive gives you in order for your second shot to clear the bunkers and the stream that winds across a number of the holes. It’s also a very flat course, but pretty too, thanks to the masses of trees of every description that line most fairways (and occasionally cross them!) and only on a few holes do you play alongside villas and apartments.
This is one of the better courses to play in very hot weather, not just because it’s flat and the trees give plenty of shade, but also because there is generally a nice cooling breeze coming off the sea.
The Isla Canela Golf course opened in 1993 and was designed by Juan Catarineu.
