Based in Lagos, Algarve, Portugal
Three 9 hole loops; Alvor (Holes 1 to 9), Lagos (Holes 10 to 18) and Praia (Holes 19 to 27). Alvor is mainly parkland with superb views of the Alvor estuary. Lagos has a mixture of parkland and links and Praia as its names suggests (praia means beach in Portuguese) is near to the beach.
A modern Course with memorable holes and fast and true greens, all 27 holes incorporate links dunes and long grasses and many offer the comforting sound of the sea.
The Palmares Golf Course boasts expansive ocean vistas from 90% of the tees, dramatic elevation changes, intimate valleys, natural dunes and some holes that run alongside the beach.
Robert Trent Jones Jnr played in the inaugural competition stating that ‘It is a beautiful Course whichever way you look at it. It’s three 9 hole loops each have their own special characteristics. There is a mixture of hilly parkland, heathland with river views and links-style golf by the beach - something that is rare in the Algarve. But what all three courses share is a spectacular setting with views of rare beauty. The three types of terrain in one Course (Parkland, Heathland and Links) means that you will never be bored!’
The Palmares Golf course re-opened in June 2011 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr.
