Based in Castro Marim, 7km from the Spanish border, 24km from Tavira, 64km from Faro and 77km from Vilamoura.
The Castro Marim Golf Course has 3 x 9 hole courses; The Guadiana, The Atlantic and The Grouse. All 27 holes are memorable. In fact the 4th hole on the Atlantic Course features in the book ‘1001 Golf Holes you must play before you die’ edited by Jeff Barr.
The Courses are always in good condition and buggies are allowed on the fairways. With undulating contours and interesting views the resort is well worth a visit.
The Grouse Course is the newest of the three courses and although it only opened in 2008 it is already nicely mature. It has rolling terrain with fewer trees than the other 2 courses and more open far-reaching inland hill views. The Courses are teeming with wildlife including wild boar, partridge, birds and rabbits. Some lucky players have even spotted the elusive Iberian Lynx on the Grouse Course when playing early in the morning.
The Guadiana Course and the Atlantic Course are a delight, set amongst attractive pine trees with fast and true greens, several of them elevated and protected by bunkers, inviting elevated tees. Dogleg fairways carved out of canyons are an interesting feature of the Courses.
The Atlantic Course and the Guadiana Course opened in 2000 and was designed by Terry Murray.
